Sherihan’s First Comment on Her Return After a Long Absence

Sherihan: "The honor, all the honor is mine; there is nothing greater than this day" Sherihan: "I don’t know how to describe my feelings"
In her first comment on participating in the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the legendary actress Sherihan expressed her happiness and pride during a phone interview on a television program.
Sherihan spoke about performing a live dance segment in front of the audience after years away from the screen, saying, “It is a crowning moment for my artistic career and life. I was surrounded by great Egyptian talents such as Mohamed Saadi, Hisham Nazih, Mazen Al-Mutajawel, and Maestro Hani Abaza. I don’t want to forget anyone, because they are all remarkable.”
She added, “I don’t know how to express my feelings. All I feel now is gratitude and thanks to God for this crowning moment and this honor—an honor like no other, on the soil of my beloved country.”
Pride in belonging to the oldest civilization in history
Sherihan continued to emphasize the importance of the event, saying, “The Grand Egyptian Museum is a global and magnificent event, where everyone excelled. I am Egyptian, and I am proud to belong to the oldest people in history, the first civilization, the first organized army on Earth, and the first country with a documented history. These words were written by my heart.”
Regarding her outfit for the event, Sherihan explained, “When I was honored with being chosen for this great occasion, I thought: Who is worthy to have their name next to Egyptian civilization? And who could design my outfit to reflect my pride and happiness? I found no one but my friend and beloved, global designer Elie Saab.”
She continued, “I went to him and said: I want us to carve a line on a stone—if it’s placed next to Egyptian civilization, it must be worthy of it. Time was short because he was busy, and the fabric was embroidered in Italy with Pharaonic craftsmanship. My entire dream was that the Egyptian stone itself would shine in the design.”
Sherihan concluded by expressing her immense pride: “I told Elie Saab: The responsibility I carry is huge and greater than me—how can I stand next to Egyptian civilization? But he gave me strength at that moment, and I am extremely proud.”
