Beating and Torture Claim the Life of a Woman in Zarqa

Her Husband’s Brutal Beating and Torture Led to Her Death
The husband did not stop at the severe physical assault; he also burned her body with cigarettes and charcoal
The death of a thirty-year-old woman in Zarqa, following brutal torture and beating by her husband, sparked waves of anger and sorrow among Jordanians, as media outlets reported the painful details of the incident. The case once again highlighted the urgent need to combat domestic violence and protect women from abuse within their homes.
Sources stated that the husband not only physically assaulted her but also burned her body with cigarettes and charcoal and confined her in the bathroom for two days, threatening to harm her four children if she reported the abuse or sought help. This forced her into silence out of fear for her children.
These cruel acts revealed the depth of fear and struggle many women endure in silence, especially in the absence of adequate support in some cases.
The victim was taken to Zarqa Governmental Hospital in critical condition, where examinations revealed severe burns and extensive bruising across her body before she lost consciousness for several hours.
After briefly regaining consciousness, she gave her testimony to the Family Protection Department, then fell into a coma again, before her death was announced last Friday, leaving behind four children and a grieving family.
Jordanian Outrage Jordanians expressed their deep anger and sorrow over the incident on social media, emphasizing that such cases put society under a national responsibility to protect women, hold perpetrators accountable, and call on judicial authorities to impose the harshest penalties.
This tragic incident is not just an isolated case; it brought renewed attention to the reality of domestic violence faced by women and called on everyone to raise awareness, enforce protective laws and programs, and ensure such crimes do not go unpunished.
