Indian actress arrested for theft

Authorities in Kolkata have taken former Indian television actress Rupa Dutta into custody following allegations that she stole gold, according to local news reports
The investigation began after a woman filed a complaint stating that her gold jewelry and cash had been stolen from her bag on Adi Bashtala Street in the Posta area
CCTV footage revealed the involvement of the 42-year-old former actress
Rupa was detained near Nandaram Market in the Burrabazar area following questioning, and she was brought before the court, which ordered her to remain in police custody until November 7
According to official Rupesh Kumar, the theft occurred between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM on October 15, and the victim’s bag contained a 20g gold mangalsutra, a 21g gold chain, two gold bracelets weighing 13g and 9g, as well as 4,000 Indian rupees that were later recovered
This is not the former actress’s first arrest; she was caught in 2022 for stealing a book and several wallets, with the total value of the stolen items estimated at around $20,400
