  • Nelly Karim sparks controversy on social media over comments about men needing vitamins to boost masculinity
  • Criticism and support rise, with some supporters saying her remark was meant as a joke and does not warrant harsh criticism

Egyptian actress Nelly Karim has ignited a wave of controversy on social media following her statements about men in the current era, which some interpreted as a harsh attack or unnecessary mockery.

Nelly told a media program: "Men these days need vitamins that strengthen their masculinity hormone," adding that "we could even put this hormone in the Nile’s waters."

Her comments drew widespread criticism, with some saying the remark was offensive and overly generalizing, noting that "there are good and bad men alike" and that mentioning the Nile implied the issue was specific to Egyptian men, not men in general.

On the other hand, some followers defended the actress, arguing that "her words were meant as light-hearted humor, since there are indeed many men across different Arab countries whose behavior does not align with traditional notions of masculinity."

Supporters also emphasized that Nelly is fully Egyptian, and there is no reason to exaggerate criticism over this statement.
