Al-Wehdat defeats Al-Faisaly in the classification round of the basketball league

Despite the joy of victory and qualification, the match statistics and overall performance confirmed that both teams need "a lot of work" before the start of the Premier League.
In one of the most exciting and competitive "Clasico" matches, Al-Wehdat Basketball Team staged a thrilling comeback, overturning an 11-point deficit at the start of the final quarter to secure a valuable and deserved win over their traditional rival Al-Faisaly, 58-55.
The game, held this evening at Prince Hamza Hall in Hussein Youth City, as part of the classification league, witnessed dramatic swings. Al-Faisaly dominated for three full quarters before collapsing in the final ten minutes against a green surge that decided the outcome.
Blue Dominance for Thirty Minutes
The match kicked off at 8:00 PM amid a large and enthusiastic crowd befitting the stature of both clubs. Al-Faisaly began with impressive offensive strength, capitalizing on their solid defensive organization, and imposed their rhythm on the "Green." The "Blue" team ended the first quarter ahead by a clear margin of 9 points, 22-13.
In the second quarter, Al-Wehdat tried to get back into the game. The "Green Giant" reorganized and managed to keep pace with Al-Faisaly, winning the quarter 14-13. However, this slight advantage was not enough to close the gap effectively, leaving Al-Faisaly with a comfortable 8-point lead at halftime, 35-27.
The third quarter saw little change. Al-Faisaly continued their organized performance, maintaining and even slightly widening the lead. With each Al-Wehdat attempt to recover, the "Blue" team responded appropriately, ending the third quarter 11 points ahead at 49-38, just ten minutes away from victory.
The Comeback Quarter: Green Revival
At the start of the final quarter, trailing by 11 points, it seemed that Al-Faisaly had the game in hand. But in a Clasico, nothing is decided until the last second.
Al-Wehdat entered the court with a completely different mindset. The team applied intense pressure on Al-Faisaly players, causing visible confusion among the "Blue," who began committing errors and losing balls easily.
Meanwhile, Al-Wehdat’s attack exploded. The "Green" players converted their strong defense into fast and effective offense, scoring points consecutively, closing the gap basket by basket, much to the astonishment of Al-Faisaly supporters.
Al-Faisaly could not withstand the green uprising; the team that scored 49 points in 30 minutes experienced an "offensive drought" in the decisive quarter, managing only 6 points. In contrast, Al-Wehdat scored 20 points in the fourth quarter alone in a fiery comeback. The "Green" not only leveled the score but also seized the lead in the final minutes and maintained it firmly, ending the game 58-55.
This victory gives Al-Wehdat a tremendous morale boost in their classification league campaign, while leaving Al-Faisaly in shock after losing a match that had been within reach for thirty minutes.
Deserved Qualification… But Questions Remain on Performance
With this valuable win, Al-Wehdat officially secured qualification to the Premier Basketball League, joining Al-Faisaly (who had previously qualified despite the loss) and Al-Ingliziya, both of whom secured their spots.
However, despite the joy of victory and qualification, the match statistics and overall performance revealed that both teams need "a lot of work" before the start of the Premier League. The game highlighted significant weaknesses in the basics for both sides, especially in free-throw percentages and clear deficiencies in three-point shooting.
