Lebanese journalist Bassam Barak passed away on Monday at the age of 53 after a long struggle with illness, leaving behind a distinguished media legacy spanning television, radio, and print journalism

Barak began his media career in 1991 on the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC), presenting news bulletins on Voice of Lebanon radio and covering major political and cultural events locally and internationally. He rose to wider recognition in 2008 through his program Khibra Omar

In 2010, he joined the news department at Future TV, later focusing on training journalists and broadcasters in Arabic language, presentation skills, and formal news delivery

He also worked as a trainer in media institutions inside Lebanon and abroad, including LBC, Voice of Lebanon, Télé Lumière, Iraqi Alsumaria TV, and Saudi MBC, in addition to supervising the program Arab Presenter

At Antonine University, Barak served as a professor and Arabic language coordinator, launching the well-known spelling competition “Imlauna Lughتنا” and participating in media conferences in Dubai and the International Arabic Language Council. He also presented his academic program at Harvard University’s club

Barak published his book “Tawali Al-Hibr” in 2018, and his passing leaves a significant void in the Arab media landscape as one of its most prominent figures
