Alys Demonstrates Her Superiority with a Balanced Strategy Between Defense and Attack

Palestinian Olympic Committee Media: The Palestinian champion Viviane Alys engraved her name in golden letters after winning the gold medal in the Muay Thai junior under-45 kg category at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Manama, Bahrain, granting Palestine a new continental sporting achievement and proudly ascending the winners’ podium.

The well-deserved victory came after Alys triumphed in the final match against Lebanese athlete Hala Makdashi, following a fierce bout in which both fighters displayed remarkable technical skill. However, the Palestinian champion’s determination and willpower enabled her to dominate and secure the win, claiming gold amid pride and joy within the Palestinian delegation.

Viviane began her journey in the tournament with a decisive victory in the round of 16 against her Chinese opponent, qualifying for the quarterfinals and ensuring Palestine’s first medal of the games. She continued her outstanding performance in the semifinals, delivering a heroic display that earned her a spot in the final match.

In the championship bout, Alys confirmed her superiority with a balanced tactical approach between defense and attack, ultimately being crowned with the gold medal, writing a new chapter in Palestine’s sporting glory.

The competitions were attended by Arif Saleh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Bahrain; Abdel Majeed Hajjaj, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Olympic Committee; Valerie Terzi, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union and the Women’s Committee of the Asian Olympic Council; Firas Dudin, President of the Palestinian Wrestling Federation; Samah Murjan, Head of the Palestinian delegation; and Shaker Shrouf, President of the Palestinian Muay Thai Federation. They all expressed their pride in this great achievement, affirming that this victory embodies the spirit of determination and perseverance of Palestinian youth and reflects the ongoing progress of Palestinian sports despite all challenges.

A Tribute to Sporting Heritage The Palestinian athlete began her participation by performing the Wai Khru, the traditional Thai dance that symbolizes respect and pays homage to the martial heritage of Muay Thai, showcasing her technical discipline and deep appreciation for the sport’s authentic culture and values.

Palestine is participating in the Asian Games with a delegation of three Muay Thai athletes — Viviane Alys, Ibrahim Jamous, and Atem Fadi — as part of a Palestinian contingent comprising nine national teams.

This golden triumph represents a historic milestone for Palestinian sports, adding to the growing list of national achievements at continental and international levels and reaffirming Palestine’s strong presence on the Asian sports stage.
