Ozan Güven faces a prison sentence of two years and three months Ozan Güven has become a persona non grata among his fans

After five years of waiting and controversy, the case of Turkish actor Ozan Güven has finally been closed. The Court of Appeal issued its final ruling, upholding the two-year and three-month prison sentence against him for intentional assault with a weapon on his former girlfriend, social media expert Deniz Bulutsuz.

The prison sentence handed down to Güven is below the legal threshold that allows for an appeal to the Turkish Supreme Court, as appeals are generally accepted for sentences exceeding five years.

Reduced Prison Term

However, Turkey’s penal enforcement system allows for a significant reduction in the actual time served, especially in cases of good behavior, absence of prior convictions, or the nature of the crime. Under this system, Güven will serve only a short actual sentence of 45 days in prison before being released or completing the remainder of his term under supervision or conditional release.

This ruling marks the end of a dramatic chapter in Güven’s professional and personal life, as he has shifted from being a screen star to a controversial figure shunned by the public.

Since the incident, he has faced widespread criticism, which forced him to withdraw from the TV series Babil, in which he starred at the time, and he was recently removed from the project Seven Husbands of Hermuz following a surge of negative reactions on social media.

So far, Ozan Güven has not made any official statement regarding the ruling, leaving the media and the public in suspense over his next move and whether he will attempt to revive his acting career after this major setback.
