Formal procedures ahead of his trial scheduled for December 15 A confrontation is expected between Fadel Shaker, Al-Assir, and others

The preliminary interrogation session of Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker concluded today, Wednesday, before the President of the Beirut Criminal Court, Judge Bilal Al-Danawi, at the “Palace of Justice.”

Judicial sources stated that the session was limited to formal procedures in preparation for his trial scheduled for December 15. During the session, investigators asked Shaker routine questions, such as the name of his legal representative and whether he had any requests or had faced threats before the trial date. He then left the court without any additional procedures.

Shaker was brought to the Beirut Criminal Court at 8:30 a.m. under tight security measures.

Ongoing Case

Sources indicate that the case concerns a lawsuit filed by the family of a civilian who died from a gunshot during previous events. Fadel Shaker, along with Ahmed Al-Assir, is accused in this ongoing case, which has not yet resulted in a final verdict.

The first trial session is scheduled for mid-December and is expected to feature a confrontation between Shaker, Al-Assir, and others who participated in or witnessed the “Abra Battle” that took place on June 23, 2013.

Incitement Charges

Shaker also faces charges of incitement to attempt to kill plaintiff Hilal Hammoud. However, his lawyer, Amata Mubarak, denied any connection between her client and the detainees, emphasizing that “his case is entirely separate from Sheikh Ahmed Al-Assir’s case.”
