A crocodile made an unexpected appearance in the pool of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, northeastern Australia, over the weekend.

Surprisingly, sunbathing guests nearby remained mostly unbothered.

Footage shared on social media shows the young reptile resting at the bottom of the pool while tourists lounged on chairs around it. TikTok user Lisa Keller commented, “I don't want to alarm anyone but there is a crocodile in the Sheraton pool.”

The hotel’s manager, Joseph Amerio, confirmed the crocodile was discovered early Saturday morning.

The pool was temporarily closed until Queensland wildlife officers safely removed the animal.

No guests were in the pool at the same time, and the crocodile was later relocated to a safe habitat while warning signs were posted.

It is unclear whether the visitor was a saltwater or freshwater crocodile, but northern Australia is home to over 100,000 crocodiles of both types.
