In five seconds only… woman kills 3-year-old in front of mother

An Ohio woman has been found guilty of fatally stabbing a three-year-old boy in a shocking, seconds-long attack outside a supermarket near Cleveland.
Bionca Ellis, 34, from Cleveland, was convicted Wednesday after a week-long trial on nine charges, including aggravated murder, felonious assault, and child endangerment. She will be sentenced on October 27 by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo, who will decide whether she faces life imprisonment with or without parole.
The June 2024 attack claimed the life of Julian Wood and injured his mother, Margot Wood, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. Ellis has remained in custody on a $5 million bond since her indictment.
Prosecutors said Ellis had stolen two knives from a nearby thrift store before entering the Giant Eagle grocery store in North Olmsted. Spotting the mother and child near the entrance, she followed them into the parking lot. As Margot Wood was loading groceries into her car, Ellis rushed at them, stabbing the toddler twice in an attack lasting less than five seconds before walking away.
Julian later died at the hospital, while his mother was treated for a shoulder wound sustained as she tried to shield her son. Ellis’ defense team had entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
Following the verdict, Julian’s parents, Margot and Jared Wood, thanked the community for its support. “Everybody that’s visited him, commented, sent love, we appreciate you guys so much,” Margot Wood said. “This was for him today.”
