Ahlam: "Did you understand anything? I didn’t understand a thing! Honestly, I was shocked by the story" Mohammed Taher: "Don’t act childish just to make people laugh"

Emirati artist Ahlam Al Shamsi engaged in a heated exchange on the platform "X" with Saudi artist Mohammed Taher over his remarks about the story behind the song "Akthar Min Awal Ahebak," which Ahlam released years ago in collaboration with poet Mansour Al Shadi and composer Nasser Al Saleh.

Ahlam lashes out at host Ahmed Al-Arfaj Ahlam expressed her frustration with the questions posed during the interview that brought Ahmed Al-Arfaj together with Mohammed Taher, especially when he was asked whether Ahlam’s vocal range suited the song.

She reshared a tweet from the show and wrote: “Did anyone understand anything? I didn’t understand anything! Honestly, I was shocked by the story.” She added: “And the most important thing is the host asking: How did I sing the song?! If he had asked Nasser Al Saleh, may he rest in peace… It’s so frustrating! I said I’ll stop replying to anyone to make them famous, but why not? It’s not wrong, let people live and earn a living. Period.”

Later, after a follower advised her to ignore the matter, Ahlam clarified her point of view: “My problem isn’t about my voice, I know my voice and what I’ve done, thank God… My problem is that I didn’t understand the question or the answer. Misfortune is no laughing matter.”

Many social media users supported her, praising her artistic stature with comments like: “You’re great in your art” and “No need to explain yourself, you’re a legend.”

Hussein Al-Najmi supports Ahlam Media personality Hussein Al-Najmi joined the discussion, backing Ahlam’s position, and tweeted: “Some programs should stop due to weak content and poor information sources. It is very inappropriate for a host to bring someone unrelated to the topic to comment on another person.”

Ahlam responded: “If the problem is with the programs, it can be solved, but the real problem is with weak content creators… Insulting the deceased is forbidden, and I’m your sister.”

Mohammed Taher responds Saudi artist Mohammed Taher responded indirectly, affirming that his answer to Al-Arfaj’s question was normal and not offensive, expressing surprise at the exaggeration by an artist who has dedicated their life to music. He tweeted to Ahlam: “Sister, calm down… Don’t act childish just to make people laugh… Relax, God protect you.”

Ahmed Al-Arfaj also responded, highlighting the value of criticism: “Wise people know that criticism, whether praise or reproach, is ultimately in your favor, because those who criticize you focus on you, follow you, and help spread your content! I welcome any feedback, positive or negative.”

Ending the thread Ahlam concluded her posts briefly with: “Annoying.” Mohammed Taher interpreted it as directed at him and replied: “And if it’s about being annoying… let me be annoying. Relax, life is much simpler than this. You’re both young and old in age, take care of your health, and I wish you followed your father’s advice, may he rest in peace, you’d be better and wouldn’t have complicated it this way.”
