Adel Imam’s appearance performing Umrah sparks a wave of questions It turns out the images were AI-generated and not “real”

Recently, images showing Adel Imam, “El-Zaeem,” performing Umrah in the courtyard of the Kaaba have circulated on social media, sparking a wave of questions among the public about their authenticity.

The photos showed Imam wearing Ihram garments and sitting in a wheelchair, prompting social media users to react and search for the truth behind what was being shared.

AI-Generated Images

Upon verification, it was revealed that the images were generated using artificial intelligence and are not real, despite being widely circulated by several popular accounts, which gave them a false sense of credibility among the public. The spread of these fake images is largely due to the actor’s absence from the public eye for years, with his last work being the TV series Valentino in 2020.

A Rare Appearance

It is worth noting that a rare recent photo of Adel Imam circulated on social media, showing him in good health, reassuring his fans after years of absence and repeated rumors about his condition. In the photo, Imam was seated next to his close friend and writer Akram El-Saadany and his brother, producer Essam Imam, with a young boy sitting between them, in a candid moment that restored calm to his admirers’ hearts.

Earlier, in July, El-Saadany denied circulating reports that Adel Imam was suffering from Alzheimer’s, confirming that the actor is in good health and that they remain in regular contact, sharing conversations about art and memories. He added that he had met Imam several times recently, reliving their old gatherings in the neighborhoods of Giza.

According to Egyptian media reports, Adel Imam has been out of the public eye for nearly four years. His last official appearance was at the wedding of his grandson Adel Rami Imam in early July, where he left the event quickly after the attendees were prevented from taking photos.

His latest appearance, alongside El-Saadany and Essam Imam, provides a new opportunity to reassure his audience and dispel rumors, as Egyptians and Arabs alike nostalgically remember one of the most iconic figures in the Arab entertainment world.
