Ashraf Zaki, head of the Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate, announced the end of his term in office, emphasizing that he had devoted his years to serving his colleagues and the syndicate’s general assembly with dedication and commitment.

In an official statement, Zaki said: “The moment has come for me to step down from my position, so that other colleagues may continue the path of work and giving, after I have spent years in the syndicate that I consider among the most beautiful days of my life.” He also expressed his gratitude to the general assembly and the syndicate’s board members for their support and trust throughout his tenure, adding: “I leave my official position today, but I will always remain a loyal son of this great institution, supporting it with all my love and devotion.”

On its part, the syndicate’s board held an emergency meeting on Thursday evening to discuss Zaki’s resignation and announced that it would not accept it, emphasizing “the prominent national and professional role the chairman has played and the exceptional efforts he has made in serving the syndicate and its members and defending their interests.”

Actress Nehal Anbar, a board member, described the resignation as sudden and shocking, noting that the reasons behind it have not yet been disclosed. These developments come after 12 years of Zaki’s leadership, during which the Actors’ Syndicate witnessed numerous initiatives and achievements in support of Egyptian arts and its members.

The reasons for the resignation remain undisclosed, while the board’s refusal to accept it reflects the syndicate’s determination to continue the path and initiatives that Zaki established over the past years.
