The father of Kuwaiti actress and influencer Rawan bin Hussain has spoken out for the first time since his daughter was admitted to Dubai Central Prison in the United Arab Emirates, following the circulation of a photo on social media claimed to show her inside the prison.

Rawan’s father said that the prison has given her an opportunity to focus on worship, noting that she spends her time reading and memorizing the Quran and is diligent about performing her prayers on time.

His statements coincided with the spread of a leaked photo of his daughter in prison, which showed her pale and fatigued, yet still maintaining her beauty and appearance. Reports also indicated that she went on a hunger strike after her sentence was extended by an additional year due to assaulting a prison guard, according to media sources.

Case Details In March, Dubai’s Criminal Court sentenced Rawan bin Hussain to six months in prison, fined her 20,000 UAE dirhams, and ordered her deportation, while referring the civil case to the competent court.

Misconduct The sentence came after she was arrested in a public place in an unusual state, causing disturbances due to her behavior, and assaulting Dubai police officers while using offensive language.

The Dubai Public Prosecution clarified that “anyone who violates the law will be held accountable, and the rule of law remains the primary reference for the rights and duties of anyone living in or visiting Dubai.”
