Mohammad Qabnand, the well-known producer of the series "Bab Al-Hara," was reportedly kidnapped from his office in the Damascus countryside, in an incident that shocked the Syrian artistic community.

Ayyham Qabnand, director of Ayyham Qabnand Media and the producer’s son, revealed in a post on his official Facebook page that at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in front of the company’s headquarters, his father was abducted by unidentified individuals impersonating public security officers in two vehicles and taken to an unknown location. He added: “We have been in contact with the public security since the incident, and so far, there is no information. We place all our hope in the authorities and everyone to help us with this matter, God willing, it will turn out well.”

Statement from the Ministry of Interior The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued a statement clarifying that preliminary investigations indicated the kidnapping was carried out by a gang impersonating security personnel, aiming to extort money from the family and tarnish the ministry’s image through illegal practices. The statement confirmed that the competent security authorities are seriously following up on the case and taking the necessary measures to apprehend those involved and bring them to justice.

Several artists reacted to the incident. Actor Qasim Malho posted on Instagram Stories a picture of Qabnand, commenting: “Some say he was kidnapped… some say arrested… the important thing is that from yesterday until now there’s no news about him.” Actor Adnan Abu Al-Shamat wrote on Facebook: “May God bring you back safely.”

Qabnand’s company is one of the most prominent production companies in Syria and is entering the current drama season with several anticipated works, including "Ailat Al-Malik," "Al-Yateem," and "Al-Maliyya."
