The death of Lebanese media figure Yumna Sherry on Thursday morning sent shockwaves through the media community, leaving a deep impact on her colleagues and audience, who mourned her with heartfelt messages.

Lebanese journalist Rima Karki paid tribute to her colleague in an Instagram post, writing: "I can’t believe it, Yumna! How could you do this to our hearts when you were nothing but the joy of our lives?"

Rima added, describing Yumna: "What a person! Wherever she was, there was fun, intelligence, love, and a zest for life. She shone in everything she did—energy, success, strength, and love for everyone who knew her… a true gem in the hearts of all her friends. Some people leave behind echoes of their laughter, advice, comfort, and love even after they are gone."

She concluded her post, expressing how much she would miss her: "I will miss all our long talks, Yumna… so sincere, so sweet, a true flavor of life for everyone who loved you. God be with you, my beloved."

The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed, leaving the media community in shock over her sudden passing.

Lebanese Professional Artists Syndicate Mourns Yumna Sherry

The Lebanese Professional Artists Syndicate also mourned the late media personality, while social media was flooded with heartfelt farewell messages from colleagues, fellow artists, media professionals, and her wide audience across the Arab world, all recalling her illustrious career.

Journalist Yekardo Karam wrote: "A sad morning began with the news of Yumna Sherry’s passing. We started our journey together in the early 1990s on ‘Future TV,’ where she filled the screen with her big smile, renewed energy, dynamism, and femininity. I never met her in person, but we kept in touch, especially in recent years from Canada, where she lived and wrote to me with warmth and love. Her departure leaves a huge void in the hearts of her fans, but her image will remain in memory: a vibrant person who loved her profession and always gave her best. May God have mercy on her."

Who Was Yumna Sherry?

Yumna Sherry was a Lebanese media personality and actress. She held a degree in French literature from Saint Joseph University in Beirut and a degree in media studies—radio and television—from the Lebanese University.

She began her acting career with her first role alongside Joseph Hawik, then appeared in several dramas, including Hayat School, Al-Basha, and Hind Khanum.

In her media career, she hosted a wide range of entertainment and variety programs, most notably Tal El Qamar, The Open Night, Tal El Qamar wa Ahlo El Sahar, Night, Moon, and Stars, Baad Sahar, and Alam Al Sabah. She also participated in major events and festivals such as Hello February Festival and Dubai Shopping Festival.

In May 2021, she suffered a fall down the stairs that left her unconscious and in intensive care for several hours, before later recovering her health.
