Pamela Warner, the mother of the late star Malcolm-Jamal Warner, revealed new and emotional details about her son’s tragic drowning accident in Costa Rica, marking her first media appearance since his passing.

Speaking with a voice filled with both grief and gratitude, Pamela said: “I am so grateful that God chose me to be Malcolm’s mother… I feel that our journey together as mother and son was complete. Despite my pain, I am at peace with what happened.”

She also expressed her wish to put an end to the rumors surrounding the tragedy, clarifying that reports claiming Malcolm’s daughter was in the water with him were false. “His daughter was on the shore, she was not in the water. Malcolm was with another man when the strong currents swept them away, but his companion managed to survive,” she explained.

Dangerous currents Pamela added that the water wasn’t deep but was filled with dangerous undercurrents: “My son was not an experienced swimmer. He didn’t know how to fight the current, and the sea took him.”

Recalling the moment she received the news, she said with deep emotion: “I screamed from the depths of my soul. The pain was indescribable, my entire body shook, but spiritually I was in a different place—that’s what I believe.”

Pamela also spoke about the family’s suffering after his loss, noting that his eight-year-old daughter continues to struggle with her father’s absence, while his wife Tynisha remains deeply heartbroken.

It is worth noting that on August 6, Pamela launched an official Instagram account under the name Malcolm-Jamal Warner Living Legacy to honor her son’s memory, affirming that he was “a man who loved life, and an exceptional husband, father, and son.”
