Reports of an Attempt to Set Fire to Fadel Shaker’s Home, Sources Clarify

In recent hours, reports have circulated about an attempt by an angry group of youths to set fire to the home of Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker, located in the Al-Manshiyah neighborhood of the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in the city of Sidon, in protest against his return to the music scene.
According to press reports, the camp witnessed a state of tension after several young men gathered around the house. However, neighbors intervened to prevent the situation from escalating, before local mediators stepped in to contain the crisis and stop it from developing into wider clashes.
Background of the Incident
Sources from inside the camp explained that the incident actually dates back to more than a month ago, when Shaker announced the resumption of his artistic career. Some youths then visited his home and advised him not to go forward with this decision.
The sources added that influential local figures quickly intervened, asking those youths to refrain from any hostile actions or interference in the singer’s affairs, and the matter was dropped at that time.
Fadel Shaker Between Art and Law
These developments once again highlight Shaker’s continued residence in the camp since 2013, when he was sentenced in absentia on several charges—some of which were later dropped—while his legal and media case remains a recurring subject of controversy.
Shaker’s return to singing has sparked wide debate in Lebanese public opinion: some see it as an opportunity to turn the page and restore his artistic career, while others believe the case remains entangled in its legal, social, and political dimensions.
