Heidi El-Fadaly: "The claims have no basis in truth" Heidi El-Fadaly: "The Public Prosecution followed all legal procedures when reviewing the case"

Heidi El-Fadaly, the lawyer of media personality Boussy Shalaby, broke her silence following circulating reports claiming that an official request had been issued by investigative authorities to change her client’s marital status from “widow” to “divorced,” based on allegations made by the heirs of the late artist Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.

In a phone interview on a TV program, El-Fadaly confirmed that these claims are completely unfounded, stressing that they represent a distortion of the Public Prosecution’s decisions and the promotion of false news targeting her client.

Proof of Continued Marriage

El-Fadaly explained that the Public Prosecution followed all legal procedures when reviewing the case, including inquiries with the Civil Status Authority and questioning witnesses, most notably Dalia, the daughter of the late artist’s niece, who lived with the family and witnessed the details of the marital life between Boussy Shalaby and Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.

The lawyer confirmed that investigations proved the late artist personally renewed his national ID card before his death, confirming that the marriage officially lasted for 20 years until his passing. She added that the heirs harmed their father’s legacy with these false claims.

El-Fadaly also noted that Counselor Hany Hamouda, the lawyer co-handling the case, attended the investigations and issued a press statement supported by documents confirming the validity of the marriage, which were officially recorded in the Public Prosecution’s files.

Disciplinary Accountability

She revealed that she filed an official complaint with the Bar Association against the lawyer representing the late artist’s heirs, demanding disciplinary action for spreading false news and distorting the decisions of the Public Prosecution. She considered this a violation of professional ethics and harmful to her client’s interests. She added that the Public Prosecution dismissed the heirs’ complaint and found no criminal suspicion, noting that Boussy Shalaby had cared for Mahmoud Abdel Aziz’s children during his life but now faces a campaign to tarnish her image, despite remaining his wife until his last days.

El-Fadaly concluded her statements by emphasizing that the law punishes the dissemination of false information that infringes on individuals’ personal lives, confirming that she will continue to take all necessary legal measures to protect her client and restore her public reputation.

Hala Sedky: “Boussy Was Not His Secretary”

For her part, actress Hala Sedky confirmed that Boussy Shalaby was the late Mahmoud Abdel Aziz’s wife until his death, saying: “Boussy was not his secretary; she was a victim, and Mahmoud Abdel Aziz was a respectable man who knew his religion.” She added that the couple performed Hajj together and shared the same room, clearly indicating that their marital relationship continued until the very end.

Hala concluded by emphasizing that Boussy Shalaby sacrificed greatly for her husband and remained by his side until his death, asserting that any contrary claims constitute a distortion of the family’s image, including both the late artist and his media personality wife.
