In the early hours of Saturday morning, actor Fikry Abdel Hamid, known for his role as a double of the legendary actor Adel Imam and famously nicknamed "the Leader’s lookalike," passed away.

Director Ibrahim Omran announced the news on his Facebook page, saying: "May God have mercy… My dear friend, and ten years out of forty with Mr. Fikry Abdel Hamid, the lookalike of Adel Imam, has passed away. May God forgive him and grant him paradise."

Fikry Abdel Hamid’s funeral will be held today at Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque, with the memorial service taking place at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed.

Fikry Abdel Hamid’s career and role as a double

Fikry Abdel Hamid worked as Adel Imam’s double in the series Valentino, the actor’s latest work, which aired during Ramadan 2020. The series featured a star-studded cast, including the late Dalal Abdel Aziz, Dalia El Behery, Mohamed El Kelany, Hamdy El Mirghani, Enam El Geretly, Reda Edrees, Badreya Tolba, Rania Mahmoud Yassin, Ahmed Farid, Amr Wahba, Mostafa Gharib, and Elham Abdel Badi, and was directed by Rami Imam.

The lookalike often made headlines on social media due to his striking resemblance to Adel Imam, surprising audiences whenever he appeared. In addition to doubling for Adel Imam, Fikry Abdel Hamid also acted in other productions under his own persona, including the films Captain Hema, Kimo and Antimo, Askar Fi Al-Moaskar, Sleeping in Honey, and the play Bodyguard, alongside the legendary actor.
