Amr Mostafa Raises a Cry to Protect Artists

Egyptian artist Amr Mostafa called on his official Facebook account for a reconsideration of the recently changed licensing model for artistic works, describing the decision as an obstacle to creativity and a move that benefits wealthy investors and large companies. He urged the Minister of Culture to intervene to ensure the protection of independent artists’ rights.
Amr Mostafa wrote: "We, the creators and artists, are children of this homeland. We believe that Egypt has always been a beacon of art and creativity in the Arab world. But recently, we were surprised by the change in the licensing model for artistic works. While it seems administrative on the surface, in reality it places huge obstacles in front of the ordinary creator."
He added: "This makes the creative process exhausting and complicated, as if it is designed solely to serve wealthy investors and large companies."
"Art Is Not a Luxury"
Mostafa emphasized: "The independent artist is the one who carries Egypt’s artistic identity on their shoulders. This change threatens their existence and almost closes the door on them. Art is not a luxury; it is the soft power that protects Egypt and its image in the world."
He concluded: "My message is not an objection to organizing work, but a cry of fear for the future of creativity in our country. We hope that the Minister and every official with a heart will reconsider this decision, and that the primary criterion will be the interest of the independent creator and artist, before any financial or bureaucratic considerations."
