The esteemed Syrian actress Mona Wassef was widely honored during a cultural and artistic event titled “Syria of Hope”, held at the Damascus University Amphitheater, in the presence of a distinguished group of Syrian and Arab artists, along with official figures, including Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Qabwat.

During the ceremony, Mona Wassef was awarded the title of “Ambassador of Peace in the World” by the International Human Rights Organization, in recognition of her long artistic career and remarkable contributions to Syrian and Arab drama, as well as her prominent role in promoting the values of peace and solidarity.

Mona Wassef’s pride in the honor In an emotional speech delivered amid the audience’s applause, the veteran actress expressed her pride in this recognition, affirming that her love for her profession was the source of strength that enabled her to continue for decades of giving. She said: “The important thing is not only to love, but also to give, because the homeland is like a mother — and is there anyone who hates his mother? Impossible. And if God has honored her, then how can we not honor our homelands?”

It is worth mentioning that Mona Wassef is considered one of the most prominent stars of Syrian and Arab drama, nicknamed the “Lady of the Syrian Screen”. Throughout her extensive career, she has presented dozens of theatrical, cinematic, and television works that have solidified her status as both an artistic and humanitarian icon.
