Actress Taref Al-Taqi did not overlook the statements made by Syrian actor Dureid Lahham, in which he described his former marriage to her mother, the star Sabah Al-Jazairi, as a “whim and a mistake.” She emphasized that an artist’s status does not exempt them from the responsibility of respecting others.

The 27-year-old Lebanese actress expressed her disapproval in a recorded interview, saying that what Dureid Lahham said “hurt her mother deeply.” She added: “Dureid Lahham is a prominent figure in art and a school in the field, but before being an artist, he must be a human being,” a statement that shocked her audience.

Taref, the daughter of Syrian actress Sabah Al-Jazairi, confirmed that his comments about his former marriage affected not only her mother but the entire family. She explained that her current father, Rabah Al-Taqi, was the real support who helped her mother overcome the impact of those statements.

Taref Al-Taqi’s remarks received widespread engagement on social media, with many supporting her and affirming her right to speak on the matter.

“Sabah Al-Jazairi – a whim and a mistake”

Earlier, Dureid Lahham had stated that his marriage to Sabah Al-Jazairi was “a whim and a mistake.” He added: “She withdrew from this marriage quickly because it was not right.”

He also expressed gratitude toward his children, whom he described as “content,” and mentioned another blessing: “I am grateful to have been born Syrian,” noting that his mother was Lebanese from the town of Mashghara.

Lahham shared that he wishes God to protect him from age-related diseases such as dementia and Parkinson’s, saying: “I hope to remain healthy until God takes His trust.”

Dureid Lahham: “Money is not my main goal”

Regarding his wealth, Lahham clarified that money is not his primary goal, adding: “I live a decent life. A golden bed does not prevent disturbing dreams.”

He spoke about his large family, mentioning that only three of his many siblings are still alive, and noted that his brother Jawad was the closest to him but often blamed him for creating problems.

He also recalled the beginning of his acting career, emphasizing that it was never part of his plans, as he had been focused on his studies at the Higher Institute of Teachers.
