Hollywood star Bruce Willis diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia Bruce Willis’s wife: "He wanted the home to be designed for our daughters’ needs, not his"

After the announcement of Hollywood star Bruce Willis’s diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in February 2023, his wife, Emma Heming Willis, found herself facing a difficult challenge: making decisions to ensure the stability of their family life.

This type of dementia is rare, directly affecting behavior and language, and progressively worsening over time, according to medical experts cited by The Independent.

Emma, who married Willis in 2009 and has two daughters, Mabel (13) and Evelyn (11), emphasized that the priority has always been the girls’ well-being. In a statement to ABC, she said, “Bruce wanted the home to be designed for our daughters’ needs, not his.”

A suitable home Willis now lives in a single-story house under the care of a specialized team, while Emma continues to take the girls to share meals with him and visit regularly, ensuring family connection despite the challenges of the illness.

Regarding his health, Emma explained: “Bruce remains generally healthy and active, but his brain is deteriorating gradually. His speech abilities are declining, but we have learned to adapt to the situation.”
