Ghaleb Abu Arabi: “The incident occurred after a religious gathering and after they had honored their guests” Ghaleb Abu Arabi: “They were treacherously killed without warning”

At a time when the incident continues to cast its shadow over social media, Dr. Ghaleb Abu Arabi Al-Kayed Al-Adwan, a Sharia lawyer and one of the close associates of the former MP who fell victim to the tragic incident, revealed details of the final moments that preceded the killing of the former MP and his son on Tuesday evening in the Abu Nseir area, north of the capital, Amman.

In a post on his Facebook page, Abu Arabi stated that he had visited the former MP’s guesthouse accompanied by his children and a friend, where a religious gathering was held in remembrance of God. He added that after the meeting, the former MP and his son insisted on escorting them to their car. Moments after bidding them farewell and as their vehicle moved only a few meters, gunshots were heard from behind, revealing that the assailant was one of the victims’ relatives and neighbors. He noted that they immediately called for an ambulance and remained at the scene to provide their testimonies.

Abu Arabi affirmed that the former MP and his son were killed “unjustly and treacherously,” considering them martyrs, since the incident occurred after a religious gathering and after they had honored their guests.

Additional details indicated that the suspect, born in 1983, used a black handgun, fatally shooting the former MP in the head, and his son also in the head.

The suspect, in his forties, was arrested. The former MP was transported to the University of Jordan Hospital, where he passed away, while his son was transferred to a private hospital but also succumbed to his injuries. The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate confirmed that the former MP’s wife is still under treatment and remains in critical condition.
