Israa Karam passed away about two weeks after falling into a coma Israa Karam suffered cardiac arrest and failure of vital body functions

The young Egyptian bride, Israa Karam, passed away on Wednesday morning in a hospital in Giza Governorate, in a tragic incident that shocked public opinion. Her death came about two weeks after she fell into a coma due to medical complications during a cosmetic procedure at a well-known center in the Mohandessin area, just days before her wedding, which was scheduled for September 3.

According to Egyptian media, Israa was preparing for her wedding when she visited the cosmetic center on August 13 to undergo one of the treatments for a fee estimated at around 100,000 Egyptian pounds. However, the session ended with a sudden deterioration in her health due to cardiac arrest and failure of vital body functions.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempts The bride was urgently transferred to a private hospital, where she underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation and was placed on a ventilator in the intensive care unit, with her consciousness level not exceeding 1%. Despite the medical team’s efforts to save her life, she was later pronounced dead, causing deep shock among her family and friends.

Official complaint In a legal move, the victim’s brother filed an official complaint with the public prosecution against the center and the doctor responsible for the session. The North Giza prosecution began investigations, summoned family members to provide statements, and ordered extensive inquiries into the center and its staff, including verification of the materials used during the session.

Injected substances and their relation to cardiac arrest The investigation includes reviewing surveillance cameras and patient records at the center, as well as assigning forensic experts to examine the body to determine the link between the injected substances and the cardiac arrest, and to find out whether any medical negligence directly caused the young bride’s death.
