Al-Shami Arrives in Jordan and Shares Photos of His Stay

Syrian artist Al-Shami surprised his followers on Instagram with a short post that encapsulates a long journey of struggle and perseverance, which began with his first steps on the streets of Amman as a refugee child seeking a chance at life, and culminates today with his return to Jordan shining as the youngest coach in the history of The Voice Kids.

Al-Shami arrived in Jordan a few days ago to join the judging panel of the show’s new season, alongside Egyptian singer Rami Sabry and Saudi singer Dalia Mubarak. The singer of the hit song “Doctor” shared photos of his time in Jordan on his official Instagram account, captioning them: “I left you a refugee… I returned a star,” a clear reference to his long personal journey from refuge to stardom.

The post received widespread attention, garnering over 60,000 likes and thousands of comments expressing pride in his journey from being a refugee to achieving fame.

The Beginning of His Refugee Journey Al-Shami’s story with displacement began at the age of nine, when he had to leave Syria with his family, first settling in Jordan before moving later to Turkey. This experience left a strong mark on his life and inspired many of his songs, which reflect feelings of sadness, anxiety, and displacement.

During his years in Jordan, Al-Shami endured difficult circumstances, working as a delivery boy and washing dishes to support his family. Despite these hardships, he never gave up on his passion for singing. He even wrote one of his famous songs while performing cleaning duties, demonstrating his talent early and highlighting his determination to succeed. He summarized this stage in one of his songs: "I am known as a refugee… no homeland They never saw what I saw… a stranger abroad I lived my life away… called Damascus the streets of Amman"

Youngest Coach on The Voice Kids Today, Al-Shami returns to Jordan transformed, as the youngest judge in the history of The Voice Kids at just 23 years old, embarking on a new chapter in his artistic career by mentoring and supporting young talents. He will share the judging panel with Dalia Mubarak and Rami Sabry, with the show being filmed at Olvewood Studios in Amman, selected by MBC for its state-of-the-art filming and lighting technology.
