A decisive syndicate decision in Badreya Tolba’s case

The Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate, headed by Ashraf Zaki, has announced the referral of actress Badreya Tolba to the disciplinary council, based on the decision of the investigation committee regarding alleged violations attributed to her in recent weeks, particularly on social media.
A statement issued by the Syndicate’s media office clarified that this step comes in compliance with the internal regulations and in line with the rules governing union work, stressing that all procedures are being carried out within the approved legal framework.
“Protecting the dignity of the profession”
The Syndicate stressed its full respect for all members, noting that such decisions aim only to safeguard the dignity of the profession and preserve its traditions, while guaranteeing Badreya Tolba her full legal right to defend herself before the disciplinary council.
Tolba had appeared before the Syndicate’s investigation committee on the evening of Wednesday, August 20, following what was described as a “blatant violation” on social media platforms.
Legal measures
Ashraf Zaki had earlier issued an urgent decision to refer Badreya Tolba for investigation, after she reportedly lashed out at some followers with offensive language during a live broadcast on her “TikTok” account. The Syndicate later issued an official statement stressing that it would take all legal measures against any artist who breaches the professional code of honor.
Badreya Tolba’s response
For her part, the popular comedy actress responded in a live broadcast on “Facebook,” asserting that she has been the target of organized smear campaigns through fabricated rumors. She said: “They spread bizarre lies about me — from being involved in organ trafficking to even accusations that I killed my late husband. All of this is false and slander.”
She added that she had filed a lawsuit against the woman who spread the rumors, stressing that she will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone who defames her, especially since such claims affect both her reputation and her family.
Tolba concluded by affirming that her artistic career and her responsibility toward her audience compel her to defend herself against such accusations, describing the rumor-mongers as “sick-minded.”
