Abed Fahed Revisits “Al-Zeer Salem” and Evokes Nostalgia After 25 Years

The Syrian actor Abed Fahed revisited memories of one of his most important artistic milestones, 25 years after the first airing of the series "Al-Zeer Salem" in 2000, which is considered one of the most prominent historical works in Arab drama.
Abed Fahed posted on his Instagram account a video using modern techniques, appearing as the character "Jassas" he played in the series, sitting on a couch watching the famous duel scene between "Jassas" and his nephew "Al-Jaro" (played by Tim Hassan), which ended with the death of "Al-Jaro."
A wave of nostalgia
The Syrian actor accompanied the video with a comment saying, "Memories from the most beautiful works in Syrian drama by the writer Mr. Mamdouh Adwan and the great director Mr. Hatem Ali."
The video sparked a wave of nostalgia among the audience, who recalled the atmosphere of the historical work and praised the excellence of the script and strength of the performances, considering that period the "golden era" of Syrian drama, difficult to replicate.
"Al-Zeer Salem"
The series "Al-Zeer Salem" portrays the popular saga of the Arab hero in the pre-Islamic era, featuring a star-studded cast including Salim Haddad, Farah Bseiso, Tim Hassan, Zuhair Abdel Karim, and Abed Fahed, under the direction of the late Hatem Ali. It later became one of the most frequently re-aired shows in the Arab world.
The character "Jassas bin Murra," portrayed by Fahed, stood out as one of the most complex and influential roles in the storyline. He appeared as a strong knight torn between blood ties with his cousins Kulaib and Al-Zeer Salem and absolute loyalty to his tribe. Fahed delivered the character with remarkable emotional depth, reflecting a blend of anger, pain, and a sense of tribal duty, making "Jassas" a tragic symbol of the consequences of decisions made under emotional impulse and revenge.
