Hussein Al Jasmi files a complaint with the Public Prosecutor against a composer on charges of forgery and extortion

Emirati artist Hussein Al Jasmi filed a complaint with the Egyptian Public Prosecutor accusing a composer and the owner of an audio company of defamation, slander, and forgery of official documents, as well as misuse of social media to extort money unlawfully.
Al Jasmi’s lawyer, Counselor Mohamed Othman Al-Benqad, stated in complaint number 5927 filed with the Public Prosecutor that in May he was surprised by posts on Facebook from a page owned by the accused, containing insulting language and claims that a melody belonging to Al Jasmi was stolen, alongside a forged certificate purportedly issued by the Egyptian Association of Authors and Composers confirming this.
Upon investigation, it was found that the certificate was forged and fabricated by the accused and an employee of the association, both of whom were suspended and referred for investigation.
In another complaint dated June 25, Al Jasmi’s lawyer requested the Documentation and Information Department at the Ministry of Interior to investigate the accused’s page. The accused was summoned, and upon reviewing his mobile phone, the posts in question were found and submitted as evidence.
The complaint calls for the prosecution of the accused under several articles of the Penal Code, as well as provisions from the Telecommunications Regulation Law and the Cybercrime Law.
“Blatant Forgery” Meanwhile, the Egyptian Association of Authors, Composers, and Publishers, headed by poet and screenwriter Dr. Medhat Al-Adl, issued an official statement denying the issuance of any certificates condemning Hussein Al Jasmi. The association confirmed that what has been circulated on some news sites and social media platforms is blatant forgery with no connection to the truth.
The association explained that it received an official complaint from the composer against Al Jasmi, which was referred to a specialized technical committee for review. However, the forged document circulating, which contains a decision allegedly from the committee, was never presented to the board of directors. Investigations revealed that the accused manipulated an employee of the association to obtain the association’s seal and forged signatures of several committee members, constituting a clear violation of internal regulations and a blatant forgery crime.
Accordingly, the association’s president decided to refer the accused composer and any implicated employees for immediate investigation, affirming that all necessary legal measures will be taken to preserve the integrity of the institution and its professional code of conduct.
The association concluded its statement by emphasizing its full commitment to transparency and impartiality in handling all complaints and its dedication to protecting the rights of its members without bias. It also completely disavowed the forged document and denied any responsibility for its contents.
