Karim Abdel Aziz Calls for Fair Pay for Female Artists

Renowned Egyptian actor Kareem Abdel Aziz recently voiced concern over the persistent wage gap between female and male actors, not just in Egypt but across the Arab and global entertainment industry.

In his remarks, Abdel Aziz reflected on how past TV dramas offered actresses more substantial roles and deeper character exploration, a contrast to today's trend where female roles are shrinking both in scope and influence.

He emphasized the need to restore women’s narrative presence, insisting that drama and the arts should mirror the society’s diversity—not be dominated by a single gender. His comment—"Drama isn’t a man’s monopoly"—resonated widely among fans and industry peers, highlighting a crucial step toward gender equity in the performing arts

Regarding the advice he takes that might discourage him from performing a role or scene, the Egyptian artist said: "Art is a feeling, and I studied directing, and one of its most beautiful features is that there is no right or wrong. There is no such thing as a bad movie, but there is such a thing as a movie you don't like.".
