The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a suspect who posted a "defamatory" video making serious accusations against actress Wafaa Amer, falsely claiming that the death of footballerIbrahim Shika was not due to cancer but was instead the result of organ trafficking allegedly conducted by the actres.

In an official statement, the Interior Ministry revealed that security forces receiveda complaint from Wafaa Amer against a "blogger" who claims to be related to the family of the late President Hosni Mubarak, accusing her of publishing videos containing slander and false allegations.

“Foreign Money Transfers”

After intensive investigations and legal procedures, security forces identified the suspect, a content creator residing in the Imbaba police precinct in Giza Governorate, and arrested her while she was in Alexandria.

During the arrest, two mobile phones were seized from her possession. A technical examination of one phone revealed a digital wallet containing funds transferred from abroad, likely connected to her activity on social media platforms.

“Accusations to Boost Viewership”

During questioning, the suspect admitted to fabricating the accusations to increase viewership and generate financial profits from misleading content, which caused outrage within the artistic community and the public.

Actress Wafaa Amer commented on the incident in press statements: "I have full confidence in the judiciary and my country’s institutions, and I call on everyone to be responsible for their words, because words are a trust... and everything is a debt."
