Syrian artist Nassif Zeytoun lit up the opening night of the 39th edition of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts on Thursday, delivering a performance described as "legendary" in terms of energy, organization, and the overwhelming crowd that filled every seat of the Southern Theater.
Amid an electrifying atmosphere, Zeytoun performed a selection of his most beloved songs, which the audience sang along to with remarkable enthusiasm. The night transformed into a musical masterpiece, alive with emotion and harmony between the Syrian star and his fans, who turned the theater steps into a vibrant mosaic of joy and connection.
Zeytoun’s signature style and emotional delivery gave the venue a palpable artistic energy. The audience, fully immersed, matched his passion, adding a unique glow and magic to the entire evening.
"A Dream Come True"
During a press conference held in Amman prior to the concert, Nassif Zeytoun expressed his deep joy at participating in the festival. He described standing on the stage of the Southern Theater as a "long-awaited dream" — one he admitted he had anticipated even more than the Jordanian audience itself. He called the experience a defining moment in his artistic journey and a great honor.
Zeytoun also voiced his admiration for fellow Syrian artist Al Shami, praising his talent and expressing genuine interest in collaborating with him on a future project.
Upcoming Projects
Regarding his upcoming plans, Zeytoun revealed that he is currently working on several diverse projects: a Moroccan dialect duet with an undisclosed Arab artist, a new song in the Khaleeji (Gulf) dialect, and four songs in the Egyptian dialect. He emphasized that this linguistic and stylistic variety allows him to connect with a broader audience and explore deeper creative expression.
In his remarks, Zeytoun underscored his belief that art has the power to unite people more effectively than politics. Smiling, he added, “Politics isn’t my world—music is the language that reaches hearts regardless of background or circumstance.”
A Future Duet with a Jordanian Artist?
Zeytoun expressed great admiration for Jordanian artists, noting his love for songs by Omar Al Abdallat and Diana Karazon. He also revealed his wish to someday sing with the retired artist Adham Nabulsi and affirmed his interest in doing a duet with a Jordanian artist in the future.
He spoke warmly of his recent visit to Aqaba, where he enjoyed the atmosphere and hinted at his excitement to visit Petra and Wadi Rum during his stay in Jordan.
An Emotional Closing Message
In a heartfelt closing to the press conference, Zeytoun shared a message filled with pride and emotion. He affirmed that homeland always comes first, and that he is proud to be a Syrian artist with a human and artistic message to share. Deeply moved by the ongoing hardships faced by many in the region, he asked with sadness: “Why do we live like this? We are a great and ambitious people… so why does tragedy keep repeating itself?”
He ended with a touching message to his fans in Jordan and across the Arab world: “I hope that when people talk about Jerash years from now, they’ll say — there was once a concert by Nassif Zeytoun.”
