Rania Mahmoud Yassin recounts a tense night during the opening of the National Theatre Festival

Egyptian actress Rania Mahmoud Yassin revealed a series of unexpected health and wardrobe challenges she and her husband, actor Mohamed Reyad, faced on the opening night of the 18th edition of the Egyptian National Theatre Festival.
Through her official Instagram account, Rania explained that her husband suffered a sudden health scare, with his temperature spiking to 39°C due to a stomach infection, which required urgent medical intervention. She wrote: "Thank God the day passed safely. Mohamed had a 39-degree fever, and we spent the whole day trying to bring it down. After consulting the doctor, he was given an antibiotic shot and another to reduce the fever."
She added that his condition improved slightly just hours before the ceremony, though she remained deeply worried: "I was very scared for him, and honestly, I attended the event in a really bad emotional state."
Wardrobe Crisis and a Red Carpet Stumble
The night’s difficulties didn’t end with health concerns. Rania recounted a last-minute fashion mishap, sharing that the zipper of her original dress malfunctioned right before the event, forcing her to switch outfits on the spot: "I had done a fitting and everything was perfect. I don’t know what happened—the zipper broke and I had to wear a different dress."
She also revealed that she stumbled and fell while leaving the red carpet, which only added to her stress on what she described as a "strange and exhausting" night. Despite it all, she ended her post with gratitude: "Thank God the day passed safely and the festival appeared in a very honorable way. Get well soon, my love. May God protect us from envy and the unknown."
Star-Studded Opening Night
The opening ceremony saw the attendance of many prominent figures from the theater and television scene, including Manal Salama and her husband, director Adel Adeeb, as well as Anoushka, Mohsen Mansour, Hend Aakef, Diaa Abdel Khalek, and director Adel Awad, who was among the first to arrive.
