Sudden Developments in the Case of Journalist Fajr Al-Saeed

In a surprising development in the case of Kuwaiti media personality Fajr Al-Saeed, the Court of Appeals on Monday overturned her prison sentence and ruled to withhold pronouncement of punishment while imposing a financial bail of 1000 dinars. This decision came in connection with charges related to a state security case.
Fajr’s friend, media figure Mai Al-Eidan, announced the news on her Instagram account, posting a photo of the two wearing the same outfit and expressing her great joy at Fajr’s release from prison. She wrote: “Thank God, my heart’s piece, tonight, God willing, you will sleep at home honored and respected, my mother, my sister, my friend, my teacher, and my whole world.”
“Goodbye politics” Mai Al-Eidan added: “Thanks to God, thanks to the Kuwaiti judiciary, and special thanks to lawyers Faisal Ayel Al-Anzi and Bassam Al-Asousi. Goodbye to politics forever, and welcome to peace of mind, safety, and a new life.”
Previously, the Criminal Court had sentenced Fajr Al-Saeed to three years imprisonment with hard labor on charges of spreading false news, calling for normalization with the Israeli occupation, and harming the country’s interests.
