Maha El Saghir: "Speak less, and you'll avoid blame" Widespread controversy after Maha El Saghir posts a “cryptic message”

Egyptian TV presenter Maha El Saghir sparked a wave of controversy on social media after posting a striking message on her Instagram account addressed to an unnamed individual. The message read: "Speak less… you'll avoid blame… and earn respect."

The message came amid ongoing speculation about her personal life, especially following actor Ahmed El Sakka's announcement of their separation, and circulating rumors about her being romantically involved with actor Tarek Sabry — which later prompted her to issue a firm legal statement.

Strong-Wording and Legal Threats

On her official Facebook page, Maha El Saghir published a statement condemning what she described as “unjustified interference in her personal life,” asserting that she had remained silent for a long time out of respect for herself and her children. However, she said that some people had gone too far with "false and unfounded talk."

She wrote in the statement: "I have kept silent for a long time… not out of weakness or fear, but out of respect for myself and my children. Yet, it seems some people don’t appreciate that and continue to speak recklessly about others’ lives."

The presenter called on everyone to stop dragging her name into any stories or contexts that have nothing to do with her, stressing that she is not a party to the rumors circulating in the media.

Formal Complaint to the Supreme Council for Media Regulation

In a later development, Maha El Saghir submitted an official complaint to the Supreme Council for Media Regulation against several websites and TV channels that published reports linking her to Tarek Sabry, demanding a halt to what she called “ongoing violations of her private life.”

She concluded her statement with a warning, saying: "If these violations do not stop, I will take all necessary legal measures to protect my dignity and the rights of my children and family. Silence is not always a sign of wisdom — sometimes we must take a firm stand, for a person’s dignity is not something to be toyed with."
