After Talk of 'Criminal Suspicion'... Latifa Breaks Her Silence and Shares the Details

In her first response to circulating rumors, Tunisian singer Latifa firmly denied claims surrounding the circumstances of her older brother Nour El-Din’s death, confirming that he passed away from entirely natural causes, with no suspicion of foul play.
During a phone interview with a local radio station, Latifa spoke emotionally about her brother’s final hours, revealing that he was in good health and had spoken to family members just shortly before his death. She said: “My brother was the angel of our family. Just two hours before he passed, he was talking and laughing with us, following the news… His heart was broken over what’s happening in Gaza and Palestine. May God grant us a peaceful death like his—he passed away calmly, at home, in his bed.”
“Natural Death”
Latifa emphasized that the situation was no more than a natural passing, explaining: “He was near his home, and when he didn’t answer the phone, the door was broken open—that’s all that happened.” She condemned the false reports with the words: “God is my witness against those who spread fake news.”
Latifa had earlier announced her brother’s passing through an emotional post on Instagram, writing: “My brother is in God’s hands now… May He have mercy on you, Nour El-Din. You were just talking to me yesterday… May God give us patience in your absence, kind soul.”
Album Postponed in Mourning
Out of respect for her family’s grief, Latifa decided to postpone the release of her upcoming album “Albi Irtaah” (My Heart Found Peace), which was scheduled to be released this Thursday. A new release date has not yet been announced.
Funeral in Tunisia
The funeral for Nour El-Din is set to take place on Tuesday, following the noon prayer at Al-Sayyida Mosque in Tunis. He will be laid to rest in the Sidi Omar cemetery in Manouba.
