In his first comment following his daughter’s divorce, Lebanese artist Assi El Hallani broke his silence and spoke candidly about his feelings toward the difficult phase Maritta is going through, noting that life is full of experiences and that every person has the right to make decisions that bring them peace of mind.

In a media interview held on the sidelines of his Eid al-Adha concert in Beirut, El Hallani said:“Life doesn’t stop for anyone, and in the end, everything is a matter of fate and destiny... Maritta is a wonderful person, and I always wish her the best—just as I do for all my family members.”

Parental supportHe added in a tone that reflected understanding and paternal support:“Everyone goes through experiences that they learn from and continue on... There are people we feel at ease with and others we don’t, and each person has the right to choose the path that brings them comfort.”

Maritta El Hallani had announced her separation from her husband, Kamal Abou Khalil, at the end of April, less than a year after their wedding in June 2023.

The news came as a shock to many who had followed their love story and emotionally connected with their wedding, which featured touching moments—most notably El Hallani’s performance of the song ‘Ma As’ab El Beit Min Baadek Ya Rfi’ti’ (“How Difficult the Home Is Without You, My Companion”), which brought the bride to tears.
