Port Said International Film Festival Launches First Edition in Honor of Late Actor Mahmoud Yassin
The city of Port Said is preparing to host the inaugural edition of the Port Said International Film Festival, which will take place from September 18 to 22, 2025. This edition is dedicated to honoring the legacy of the late Egyptian actor Mahmoud Yassin, one of the city’s most iconic sons, in recognition of his rich artistic journey.
The festival is headed by film critic Ahmed Asser, and held under the patronage of Major General Moheb Habashy, Governor of Port Said, and Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Egypt’s Minister of Culture. It is supported by the Syndicate of Cinematic Professions and the Port Said Association for Theatrical and Cultural Arts, chaired by actor Abdel Salam El-Alfi.
The festival aims to serve as a platform for celebrating cinematic creativity from Egypt and around the world, while enhancing Port Said’s status as a promising cultural and cinematic hub. It also seeks to foster dialogue between filmmakers of various nationalities and offer a rich cultural and artistic experience for audiences.
