Fadwa Mohsen Passes Away at the Age of 84 Hami Al-Bakkar: "My mother is in God's care… May God have mercy on you, Mom
Death has claimed the life of Syrian actress Fadwa Mohsen at the age of 84, according to an announcement by the Syrian Artists Syndicate on its official Facebook page.
The Syndicate mourned the late actress, remembering her artistic journey and generous contributions over many years. It also noted that details regarding the funeral and burial would be shared with the public at a later time, as the news left artists, series creators, and fans in shock.
Hami Al-Bakkar shared a photo of his mother on Instagram, writing: “My mother is in God's care… May God have mercy on you, Mom… You’ve gone to the Most Merciful.”
Fadwa Mohsen was born on February 26, 1941, in the city of Deir ez-Zor and began her artistic career in the mid-1980s. She gained widespread fame through her role in the TV series Tarbish in 1992, which marked her true breakthrough. She also took part in numerous dramatic and cinematic works, most notably her role in the series Bab Al-Hara, where she portrayed the character “Um Ibrahim” in several seasons.
Among her other works are: Ma Malakat Aymanukum, Small Hearts, Scream of the Soul, Darb Al-Taban, Al-Shareed, Al-Dakheela, Mosaic, Tears of the Noble, The Traveling Spring, The Snake, Tall Al-Louz, Al-Ababeed, Al-Ikhwa Part 2, Return of Ghawar and Friends, Those Days, Remnants of Images, Race to Marriage, Sons of Oppression, Midnight Nightmares, and others.
In recent years, Fadwa Mohsen faced marginalization. Actor Hami Al-Bakkar noted that she had been sidelined and was not included among the honorees in one of the events, even though she truly deserved recognition.
Tamador Ghanem, head of the Damascus branch of the Artists Syndicate, stated that Fadwa Mohsen’s name had indeed been included in the list of honorees and that the Syndicate was aware of her health condition. For this reason, they visited her at home to honor her there in appreciation of her artistic legacy.
