In a notable move, American star Angelina Jolie delivered a heartfelt humanitarian message during her speech at the Chopard Dinner, held as part of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

The global icon emphasized the importance of compassion in an artist's life, paying tribute to female artists who lost their lives in conflict zones around the world. Among them was Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna, who was killed in an airstrike on Gaza in April 2025.

Angelina Jolie also honored Shaden Gardood, the Sudanese singer killed in 2023 during the conflict in Sudan, and Victoria Emiliana, a writer killed in Ukraine the same year.

In her speech, Jolie said:"We are not naïve. We know that many artists around the world lack the freedom and safety to tell their stories, and many have lost their lives—like Fatima Hassouna, who was killed in Gaza, Shaden Gardood, who was killed in Sudan, and Victoria Emiliana, who was killed in Ukraine, and many other brilliant artists who should still be with us today."

She expressed deep gratitude to those who risk their lives under such conditions, adding:"We owe our thanks to everyone who risks their life to share their stories and experiences with us. They help us learn and grow."

Jolie gave her speech in her role as this year’s Chopard Godmother, in the presence of prominent film stars and directors including Quentin Tarantino, Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, and Juliette Binoche.

She also presented an award to French actress Marie Colomb and British actor Fionn Bennett, praising their recognition, saying:"You have been honored for your authentic diversity and rare empathy in your roles. Thank you for your contributions to cinema and storytelling, and for all that you will continue to bring in the future."

Egyptian actress Shaimaa Seif has once again stirred controversy on social media in recent hours regarding her separation from her husband, producer Mohamed Carter.

The actress unfollowed her husband on Instagram—a move that raised questions about the stability of their relationship, especially after a reconciliation that took place just a few months ago.

Social media users noticed that Mohamed Carter reciprocated by unfollowing Shaimaa, fueling speculation of a new dispute between the couple. Some even went so far as to suggest that a second separation might have occurred.

The speculation intensified after Shaimaa shared a cryptic post on her personal account, which she later deleted. The post read:

"When you expose the ungrateful, they become arrogant; when you confront them, they turn vile; when you distance yourself, they lash out—and then they find your enemy, sit with them, and praise them."

Despite the social media uproar, neither Shaimaa nor Carter has issued an official statement to clarify the situation.

It’s worth noting that Shaimaa Seif had previously announced her separation from Mohamed Carter a few months ago in an official post, saying:

"God’s will has been done. The separation between me and my husband has taken place. May God grant what is best." She also asked the public to respect her privacy and refrain from discussing the details of the separation.
