Fans of the Syrian artist, known as the "Sultan of Tarab," and who is 64 years old, were shocked by the rumor, especially with his upcoming concerts that are expected to mark a strong return to the stage.

Many social media accounts circulated the rumor of "George’s death," at a time when specialized news sites and media outlets quickly denied the claim and reassured his fans, amid their frustration over the rumor that spread like wildfire.
In recent years, George Wassouf has suffered from obesity, which has affected his health, especially after the death of his son Wadih in 2023, who passed away due to complications from a surgical procedure.
A few days ago, George Wassouf announced a new concert in Germany and another one the next day in Sweden on May 24 and 25, 2025. He also has a performance scheduled in Lebanon, though the details are not yet confirmed.
Wassouf has three children from his ex-wife Shalimar: the late Wadih, Hatem, and George Jr. He was also married to rally and shooting champion Nada Zidan, with whom he has a daughter named Ayoun, who is currently around 11 years old, before they separated.
