Mazn Al-Natour Sends a New Message to Syrian Artists

"Mazn Al-Natour: "I Promise the Syrian Artists' Syndicate Will Be a Source of Pride Supporters and fellow artists urged Mazn Al-Natour to stay focused on his work and responsibilities
On Friday evening, Syrian actor and head of the Artists Syndicate Mazn Al-Natour issued a new message addressing the controversy surrounding his removal from office. In a post on Instagram, Al-Natour reassured the public and fellow artists about their future in Syria, sharing a photo of himself at his desk beside the new Syrian flag. He wrote:
"Greetings and longing… I promise you that the Syrian Artists Syndicate will be a source of pride for every artist who loves their homeland and believes that Syria will return to the forefront, as the heart of the world."
The post was met with widespread support from fans and fellow artists, many urging Al-Natour to stay focused and not be distracted by those attempting to undermine his work and responsibilities.
Syndicate Rejects No Confidence Vote
Earlier, the Syrian Artists Syndicate rejected the decision to remove Mazn Al-Natour from his position, calling the move “invalid” and lacking any legal basis. The statement sparked significant debate within the Syrian artistic community.
According to a statement issued by the syndicate following a Sunday session that concluded with Al-Natour’s dismissal and the appointment of singer Noor Mhanna as interim head, the decision violated Law No. 40 of 2019, which governs the syndicate’s structure, as well as its internal regulations.
The syndicate clarified that the only legally authorized body to terminate Al-Natour’s appointment is the one that appointed him—the Syrian Prime Minister’s Office. His appointment, it added, was made under Official Decree No. 209, dated March 25, 2025, in accordance with Article 51 of the same law.
