"Soheir Ramzy: "This actress resembles me and is the closest to portraying my character

Egyptian actress Soheir Ramzy has stated that she is against the idea of presenting her autobiography in a drama, explaining that an artist’s life contains personal details that are not relevant to the public and should remain private.
In a phone interview on a TV channel, Ramzy said that if her life were ever portrayed on screen, actress Yasmine Sabri would be the closest match to her in appearance, describing her as “exceptionally beautiful” and adding, “Yasmine Sabri looks a lot like me—she’s stunning.”
Speaking about her role selection, Ramzy emphasized that she is highly selective and refuses to take on any work that doesn’t align with her artistic legacy. She noted that her past roles had a significant impact and left a lasting impression on Egyptian drama.
She also criticized current productions, claiming they lack strong content and meaningful writing. She expressed dismay at the declining artistic standards in Egypt, especially when compared to the advancements in film technology.
On the topic of wearing the hijab, Ramzy clarified that her decision came from personal conviction and not due to any external influence, denying rumors that Sheikh Mohamed Metwally El Shaarawy played a role in her choice. She explained that she met El Shaarawy only after deciding to wear the hijab and felt, at that time, a deep desire to get closer to God and take a break from acting. She added, “Hijab is an obligation,” but she doesn’t feel guilty about taking it off because every stage in life has its own needs. She believes hijab is more about inner faith, intentions, and human values than just outward appearance.
In a separate revelation, Ramzy shared that she had rejected her inheritance from the father she never knew. Her father separated from her mother before she was born and never supported her financially. She met him only once at the age of 13. “I needed him as a father, not for his money. His children are more entitled to his inheritance than I am, and no one forced me to give up my share,” she said. She also mentioned that she has had no contact with her siblings since the inheritance dispute.
Ramzy noted that she didn’t watch any television series during the last Ramadan season, instead choosing to focus on religious duties like fasting and reading the Quran.
She concluded by praising several current actresses, expressing admiration for Mona Zaki, Menna Shalaby, and Nelly Karim, calling them “brilliant performers.”
