Bossi Shalabi: "I was the only wife of the late Mahmoud Abdel Aziz at the time of his death."
Egyptian media personality Bossi Shalabi broke her silence following a statement issued by the family of the late actor Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, denying the claims made in it.
In a counter statement, Shalabi rejected what she described as false allegations that questioned her legal status as the actor’s wife until his death. She criticized some news outlets and social media platforms for spreading rumors about her alleged divorce from the late actor, based on claims made by his family.
"My late husband, the artist Mahmoud Abdel Aziz—may he rest in peace—was a man beyond reproach, widely loved in Egypt and across the Arab world, and he presented timeless artistic works that will live on in the hearts of audiences," Shalabi stated.
She explained that the real issue involves some individuals allegedly forging documents to seize land that did not belong to them, and emphasized that the matter is currently under judicial investigation.
She added, “I was the only wife of the late Mahmoud Abdel Aziz at the time of his death, and I will remain his wife until we are reunited by God. Any claim to the contrary is pure fabrication.”
Shalabi urged the media to verify information before publishing and warned against spreading fabricated news that could subject publishers to legal accountability. She also confirmed that she is retaining all her legal rights against those who defame or slander her and that retired Major General Hossam Nabil's law office is the only entity authorized to issue legal statements on her behalf.
On the other hand, artists and celebrities supported the media personality who topped search engines in recent hours, saying, “The truth never dies,” in a clear indication of their endorsement of Bossi Shalabi’s statement.
Bossi Shalabi affirmed that her relationship with the late actor was a lawful and legitimate marriage, a fact known to his heirs as well as mutual friends and relatives. She insisted that Mahmoud Abdel Aziz never violated Islamic or legal principles during his life.
Meanwhile, the office of her legal counsel, Maj. Gen. Hossam Nabil, stated that such matters require thorough verification before any public declarations, affirming that legal measures will be taken based on developments and that the office will handle all legal responses.
Earlier, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, the late actor's son, had issued a statement via Instagram confirming that his father had divorced Bossi Shalabi a month and a half after their marriage. The statement referred to her as “a certain lady,” clearly pointing to Shalabi, and alleged that she had filed lawsuits and complaints with claims that the late actor had reconciled with her post-divorce, or that the marriage registrar had falsified the divorce document.
The family reiterated in their statement that they would not tolerate any defamation of the late actor’s name and would take all necessary legal actions to stop what they called "systematic fabrications."
