The Egyptian actress Hala Shiha appeared in Canada in a photo she shared on her personal Instagram account, wearing a hijab, sparking questions about her current presence outside of Egypt.

Hala Shiha has not explicitly declared her stance on continuing in the acting field, especially since she hasn't participated in any projects over the past few months. Her last project was the series "Imperial Empire M" with actor Khaled El Nabawy, which aired during Ramadan 2024.

According to a media source, quoting a close source to the actress, she has decided to retire from acting and return to wearing the hijab after a period of inner struggle over the past years, which led to significant problems between her and some of her colleagues.

The source added that Hala Shiha had been living in Egypt with her father, two sisters, and other family members, while her children lived in Canada with their father, Yusuf Harrison. However, she recently decided to travel and live with them in Canada to take care of them, especially since they are at different stages of their education.

It was clarified that she will not cut off her ties with Egypt entirely, as she will reside between both countries, but most of her time will be spent with her children due to their need for her. She confirmed that she will not be participating in any upcoming projects and has informed those around her that she has stepped away from the arts and will not return.

Hala Shiha had previously removed her hijab in 2005 and starred in the film "Gawee Hob" with actor Mohamed Fouad. She then returned to wearing the hijab and appeared in the film "Kamel Al Awsaf" with the late singer Amer Mounib in 2006. Later, she removed the hijab again and starred in the series "Khiana Ahd" with actress Yousra in 2020.

In February 2021, she announced her marriage to preacher Moaz Masoud and wore the hijab once more. By mid-2023, she separated from Masoud and removed the hijab again.

It’s noteworthy that from 2006 to 2020, Hala Shiha wore the hijab and distanced herself from the entertainment industry, living in Canada with her then-husband Yusuf Harrison and raising their three children.
