Hanane's mother noticed a striking resemblance between her and her other children. A phone call during a live TikTok broadcast turned Hanane's life upside down. Hanane was raised by an adoptive family until the age of 26.

Libyan media personality and activist Hanan Al-Maqoub managed to find her biological family after more than 4 decades of separation, by pure coincidence, a shock that took over the entire scene.

In a story that feels like something out of a movie, Hanan’s mother, while watching a live broadcast of Hanan on the "TikTok" platform, noticed the striking resemblance between her and her siblings. This made her realize that Hanan was, in fact, her lost daughter.

The story began 44 years ago when Al-Maqoub was found as an infant in front of a mosque in Benghazi, after her parents had been told that their baby had died during childbirth at the hospital. She was then placed in an orphanage, where she stayed until she was adopted by a Libyan family at the age of two.

According to media reports, Hanan lived with her adoptive family until the death of her adoptive parents when she was 26 years old.

The Libyan media personality faced a legal shock when the social welfare organization demanded she return to them based on legal provisions regulating the situation of adoptees after the death of their guardians. Hanan refused to return to the orphanage and chose the path of independence.

Later, Hanan left Benghazi after becoming a prominent activist in the fields of politics and human rights. This led to her being pursued due to her bold stances and public criticisms, and she decided to settle in Egypt, where she became involved in media and human rights work.

But everything changed when she was hosting a live program on "TikTok" titled "Come, Let Me Tell You." She received a call from a young man named Omar Mousa, who shared the story of his mother, who had suffered health complications during childbirth and was told her baby had died. However, the mother, who was 14 at the time, had an inner feeling that her daughter was still alive. Upon seeing Hanan’s video and hearing her story, she was struck by the resemblance between her and her own daughters.

The call turned Hanan’s life upside down and filled her with doubt as what Omar said closely mirrored her own story. She contacted him after the program and discovered that the caller was her biological brother. Her real family had been searching for her for over four decades, and her mother had been trying to reach out to her ever since she saw her on the program.

In a video shared on her social media pages, Hanan said: "I thought I was unknown and cut off from any family tree, but I discovered that I have a family who looks like me, a mother who is my twin, uncles, and aunts, and I belong to a big tribe in Sebha. My emotions are mixed between joy, shock, and disbelief."

Hanan spoke about the hardships she faced throughout her life due to the absence of a family, saying: "I struggled with the looks of people and their pity. I deprived myself of marriage and having a family to avoid being insulted, because I thought I had no origin or relatives."

What hurts Hanan now is her inability to take legal action and hold accountable those who took her from her mother’s arms, depriving her of her family for 44 years.

The incident, with all its strange details, shocked Libyans and went viral on social media. Many wondered why the Libyan media personality had been deprived of her parents for such a long time.
