The Egyptian actor Naeem Issa passed away on Monday at the age of 92, after a long battle with illness at a private hospital in Alexandria, amid tributes from the Egyptian artistic community.
The Egyptian Actors Syndicate mourned the late actor on its official Facebook page, writing: “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. With deep sorrow and sadness, the Syndicate of Theatrical Professions mourns the passing of the esteemed artist Naeem Eissa.” The statement continued: “The syndicate, headed by Dr. Ashraf Zaki and its board of directors, extends heartfelt condolences to his family, praying that God grants him mercy and provides his loved ones with patience and solace.”
Eissa’s health declined sharply following a severe cold that led to a critical respiratory infection. He spent more than three weeks in intensive care due to complications from acute pneumonia, which developed into severe bronchitis and ultimately caused a rapid deterioration in his condition.
A Legacy of Laughter and Art
Born in January 1933, Naeem Eissa began his artistic career on the stage, joining the “Madbouly” and “Alexandria” theater troupes. He became known for his comedic talent in a range of successful plays, including El-Wad Sayed El-Shaghal, Raya and Sakina, and Nas Keda W Keda.
His legacy in Egyptian entertainment was marked by his charm, humor, and distinctive acting style, which left a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike.
