Finding the young woman’s body buried in her former brother-in-law’s garden Authorities recently reopened the case to reveal crime details

Turkish security authorities managed to solve the mystery of the disappearance of the young woman Ebru Koyunju, which had remained unresolved since 2007, after finding her body buried in the garden of her former brother-in-law, Ufuk Köse, in İzmir province.

According to the investigations, the victim disappeared under mysterious circumstances 17 years ago, and her disappearance case remained suspended without any leads to the truth, until authorities recently reopened the file to reveal the details of a horrifying murder confessed by her former brother-in-law, who confirmed that he killed his wife’s sister and buried her in his garden throughout all these years.

Investigations showed that the crime was not limited to the killer alone; the evidence also indicated suspicions of involvement or collusion by some members of the victim’s family in covering up the incident.

The Turkish Public Prosecutor issued arrest warrants for four of Ebru’s relatives, including the victim’s sister, the former husband of the victim’s sister (the confessed killer), and two of the victim’s half-siblings.

Currently, security teams continue excavation work at the burial site to fully recover the remains and present them to forensic experts, while interrogations of the detainees continue to uncover the motives behind the crime and how the perpetrators managed to conceal it for all these years without attracting attention.
